This your mental Vitamin B. Each Monday I share a little motivation & insight to start the week. You’ve got a lot of people depending on you. There is big work for you to do. So here’s a maxim for you, the smart, ambitious woman, to help you SHINE.
“If you are calm about your ambitions, you become confident of achieving what you set out to do.” – Shiv Nadar
Why You Should Learn from Shiv Nadar
Time Stamp [00:59]
This quote is by Shiv Nadar and I had to do a little research on who this guy is. He started the tech company making calculators and little computers microprocessors in India and now he is a billionaire industrialist and a philanthropist. And this point is so important.
I’ve heard the word ambitious be used almost derogatorily against women who are going after their dreams. I love this perspective about just be calm about your ambitions and you become confident and that’s what we’re working on.
What About You
Time Stamp [01:40]
Each one of us has this thing that we’re working to progress and get better. One example of that is today this very episode is episode 100 of this podcast. I am so happy to get here. I am so happy for the support and so grateful for friends cheering me on and figuring out like this didn’t quite work. And this was the right thing, pulling all those pieces together, it’s in the actual doing of the work the project the thing, the writing, whatever you’re working on while you’re doing that you’re learning the skills, you’re becoming better.
That’swhere the confidence comesin. You know, in the beginning, I wouldn’t tell anybody that I had a podcast I wouldn’t even hardly talk about it. I just kind of went to talk on it the microphone was a little bit shy and I’m happy to be here and I don’t feel like that anymore.
Steps to Success
Time Stamp [02:37]
I feel really happy and I’m so lit up when I do this. I just want to share and I’ve got some insights and some perspectives that can really help and I believe in what I’m doing.
But that confidence only came through doing it over and over. Whatever you’re working on, whatever your goal is, what it is where you see, where you are right now and way, way, way down the road you see where you want to be. And you know and you can visualize this person that you want to become and you are meant to become.
And it is not something not just a dream or something you want to do. It’s something you can not not do. You have to do it. It is who you are. This is something that will happen you just know it has to happen and because of that you work through this process and you keep trying and you make mistakes and oh my goodness I made so many mistakes and you podcast and you do this episode and it doesn’t work out and you have to rerecord and you have to you’re up late night to all of these things.
That’s what is happening. You’re building this confidence you’re becoming better and people start noticing this is the most incredible process when you’re in it and you people on the outside see that and they want to get into that and they want to be part of it because they love your confidence. They love the knowledge that you have and they want to learn more.
Be Calm & Confident
Time Stamp [04:09]
So be calm about your ambitions become confident in what you can do.
You and I both know when you enrich a woman’s life you change the life of everyone around her.
That’s what this is all about. Have a great week. Talk to you soon.
Resolutions. Goals. Lifestyle change. Plans for a better year.
Whatever you call them this has been on your mind for a bit, hasn’t it?
In personal reflection, I’ve realized that this is not the year to do more. The world tells us that more is better. A bigger home, is supposedly, better than a smaller home. That more stuff to take care of is better for you and your family. That more is not just better…it’s more.
The one thing 2015 taught me is that more is just…more. Profound, isn’t it?
So for 2016, I don’t want to do more. I don’t want to add additional challenges or goals. I’ve got them. I don’t just want to gloss over the goals- do a high-level “Uh, yeah, I got the job done…” kind of a thing. That’s not who I want to be.
I want to keep the same things I’ve been working on and just be more focused. I want to do better. I want to not just write a post, but go deeper. I will tell you what we are working on, what we are learning, and where we are struggling.
Because we are all working on something.
Two years ago, I never would have believed that we would have been able to pay over $40,000 of debt while still living off just one income. That doesn’t even make sense in my mind.
The big goals never really do.
So how did we do it? This month, I’ll be sharing all about our pantry challenge, how we have made lots of small changes that have added up to big savings in our bottom line and even teaching you how to set up your first budget.
I am confident we are going to make some great strides together!
Tell me now, what resolution are you working toward?
